Stalker sent songs to health worker he became obsessed with after she looked after him in NHS hospital, court hears

See more Daily Mail on Google - save us as a Preferred Source Published: 10:56 EDT, 16 September 2026 | Updated: 11:42 EDT, 16 September 2026 A hospital patient has been accused of stalking and sending songs to an NHS health worker that he became obsessed with while she cared for him, a court heard.Leon Khan, 40, got to know Sylwia Anczakowska when she was a health care facilitator and he was a patient at St Bernard's Hospital in Southall, west London.Khan allegedly sent Ms Anczakowska about 50 emails and 17 songs over a 20-month period. He also is said to have given her a Harrods gift card, which she did not accept.The hospital worker met Khan 'on a professional basis' while he was on the Derby ward, but made no attempt to speak to him when he was moved, Isleworth Crown Court heard.This led Khan to send her a Facebook message saying 'Am I a d***head?', jurors heard.She blocked him and reported the message to her bosses. Ms Anczakowska was later moved to a role that did not involve interacting with patients, the court heard.Khan thought he loved her and was misguided in the belief that she loved him back, the court heard.Following his discharge from the hospital in September 2025, she received multiple emails from users named 'Freedom 2025', 'Leon Lacey', and 'Switch 123', jurors heard. He also is said to have given her a Harrods gift cardShe reported the emails to police but she continued to receive up to six messages a day with MP3 attachments and was pressured with an ultimatum to meet him in February which she ignored.Ms Anczakowska had left the hospital to work for dealership Car Planet.After his feelings were not reciprocated, Khan is alleged to have made repeated calls to the Enfield branch of Car Planet on Valentine's Day in an attempt to get Ms Anczakowska fired.He allegedly told Ms Anczakowska's boss Asif Hussain he would 'send guys around' and 'a package' and the car dealership would 'be no more'. The threats left Mr Hussain feeling 'fearful'.He also accused Ms Anczakowska of stealing from him, said he had sent the dealership packages for her, and claimed she was in a criminal gang.Miles Trigg, prosecuting, said: 'It is perfectly clear in making these claims and through these many calls he was trying to get her sacked from her job.'The threats left Mr Hussain 'fearful', and there was also a chain of events leading back to the hospital that caused Ms Anczakowska to change her usual habits.Khan was arrested on 17 February.Mr Trigg said: 'The Crown's case is that the defendant has carried out a course of conduct and we say it certainly amounts to stalking. It seems clear from what he has said in the emails that he believed he loved her and that she him. While of course she was providing him professional care in hospital.' Khan thought he loved her and was misguided in the belief that she loved him back, the court heard'We say that he tried to give her a gift card in hospital, but she refused the gift. When she offered to get it extended to help him, he let her do that but then refused to take the new card from her and continued to refuse to accept it, and we say used that as a lever in an effort to control her.'Once he was discharged, we say that he sent a run of emails to pressure her to meet with him, seemingly convinced that she loved him, finally making an ultimatum on 12 February for them to meet.'When the ultimatum (after the emails and song MP3s) was not acceded to, the defendant then decided to pressure her and harass her by repeated calls to her work and seeking to get her fired by telling the managers stories and threatening the company if they continued to support their employee.'We say the defendant's course of conduct did amount to stalking, and she was caused a severe amount of alarm and distress.'Khan denies stalking, involving serious alarm or distress, between 1 June 2024 and 15 February 2026.The trial continues.
