St. Louis Blues Name Robert Thomas 25th Captain In Franchise History

After parting ways with Brayden Schenn at the NHL Trade Deadline last season, the St. Louis Blues have named Robert Thomas as the 25th captain in franchise history.The St. Louis Blues are giving one of their foundational player the 'C' ahead of the 2026-27 NHL season.Additionally, the team announced that Colton Parayko, Philip Broberg, Jake Neighbours and Dylan Holloway have been named assistant captains for the 2026-27 season.Brayden Schenn was the previous captain of the Blues but was traded to the New York Islanders ahead of the trade deadline last season on March 6, 2026. Thomas previously served as an assistant captain.The 27-year-old has led the Blues in scoring in each of the past three years, and is coming off a point-per-game season with 25 goals and 64 points in 64 games. Thomas is just a few years removed from a career-high 26-goal, 86-point campaign in the 2023-24 season.Thomas was a first-round pick of the Blues, taken 20th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft. He made his debut in the 2018-19 season posting nine goals and 33 points in 70 regular-season games as a rookie before contributing to the Blues’ first-ever Stanley Cup championship that same season.The Aurora, Ont., native is entering his ninth season with the Blues, suiting up for 530 games with 132 goals and 328 assists.As for the alternate captains, Parayko, Broberg and Neighbours previously wore an 'A' while Holloway is a new addition to the Blues' leadership group. Parayko ranks third all-time in games played with the franchise and has played up for all 11 seasons of his NHL career with the Blues since being drafted in the third round of the 2012 NHL Draft.Broberg and Holloway each joined the Blues ahead of the 2024-25 season after accepting offer sheets while under team control with the Edmonton Oilers.
