SQLite 3.54 Released With Faster Performance, Drops Windows XP Support

SQLite 3.54 released today for this wildly popular embedded SQL database engine used by countless applications and other software. With SQLite 3.54, support for Microsoft Windows XP and older is finally removed. SQLite 3.54 finally does away with Windows XP support. Windows XP and earlier Windows versions are no longer supported, including Windows CE. Windows Vista and newer is still maintained. In the process, SQLite on Windows now has improved performance for Slim Reader/Write Locks and other enhancements to benefit the more modern Windows versions. SQLite 3.54 also ships with CLI prompt enhancements, new mode command options, query planner improvements, support for O_TMPFILE on systems supporting it for temporary file generation, and more. Overall, SQLite 3.54 is exciting for coming in roughly 4% faster according to their own benchmarks in the Speedtest performance benchmark on Linux x64.
