Spotify and Claude Are Both Down

Downdetector shows tens of thousands of user reports for each platform. Spotfiy confirmed the outage in a post on X, while Anthropic confirm issues on its Claude status page. Table of Contents If you're having trouble getting your Spotify playlists up and running this morning, you're not alone. The music streaming platform is currently down for tens of thousands of users, at least. Downdetector is showing roughly 40,000 reports since 9:31 a.m. ET, with the last batch of reports coming in at 10:24 a.m. Spotify confirmed the issue in a post on X, writing: "We're aware of some issues right now and are checking them out!" Curiously, Spotify's outage comes at the same time as an outage with Claude, the AI platform from Anthropic. Downdetector shows tens of thousands of user reports here as well, and Anthropic confirmed an ongoing issue with Claude: "We are investigating reports of degraded performance affecting claude.ai, platform.claude.com, the Claude API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. We will provide an update as soon as possible." What do you think so far? It's not clear why these services are down this morning, or if they are related. But in all likelihood, Spotify and Anthropic will get their platforms back up and running soon. Typically, these occasional outages are resolved in hours, if not minutes, barring a widespread problem, like an outage with a cloud hosting provider. Last year's AWS outage "broke the internet," as did November's Cloudflare outage. There's no reason to think that's the case with these outages at this time.
