Spirit has 37 days to roar before Varanasi; Sandeep Vanga says 'it'll be enough'

Prabhas-starrer Spirit has 37 days to make its mark at the box office in March before SS Rajamouli’s mega budget film, Varanasi, arrives in theatres on April 7. But director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is not worried about the relatively short window between the two big-ticket releases. While promoting Romanchakam in Hyderabad, produced by his brother Pranay Reddy Vanga’s Bhadrakali Pictures, Sandeep addressed the release gap between his Prabhas-starrer Spirit and Varanasi, which features Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran.Sandeep Vanga says Spirit has enough time before VaranasiAt a press conference in Hyderabad, a reporter pointed out that Spirit is scheduled to release on March 5, 2027, while Varanasi will hit theatres on April 7 — giving the former approximately 37-day window before Rajamouli’s film arrives. When asked if that would be enough time for Spirit to do good business, Sandeep was confident. “It will be enough, we have around 37 days. I am thinking it should be enough,” he said. The reporter then brought up the prospect of Spirit going up against another major big-budget release. Sandeep responded with a laugh, suggesting that there was no immediate reason to worry about the release date.“Okay, we’ll shift the date. What? (laughs) Is that what you want to hear? Nothing like that, it’ll be enough,” he said. Interestingly, when the reporter referred to both Spirit and Varanasi as 1,000-crore films, Sandeep was quick to point out that Rajamouli’s film is the bigger one.“Aa film inka peddadi andi (That film is bigger),” he said, while gesturing no.Spirit will get an A certificate, says VangaSandeep also opened up about the certification of Spirit while discussing Romanchakam, which is the first Bhadrakali Pictures production to receive a U/A certificate. The filmmaker joked that despite Romanchakam breaking the production house’s A-certificate streak, Spirit is unlikely to follow suit.“Spirit will be censored with an A. No matter how hard we try, they will give an A certificate,” he said.Sandeep also revealed that half of Spirit has been completed.More about Spirit and VaranasiDirected by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Spirit stars Prabhas, Triptii Dimri and Vivek Oberoi.
