Dignitaries at the annual conference in Chennai. | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement Around 800 spine surgeons from 16 countries are participating in the annual conference of the Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeons Association of Bharat (MISSA Bharat), being held jointly with the Pacific and Asian Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeons (PASMISS) in Chennai, from July 23 to 26.The conference was inaugurated by V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, who said the future of healthcare lies in integrating technology, engineering, and medicine to develop affordable, personalised and predictive healthcare solutions tailored to India’s needs.Addressing the gathering, Prof. Kamakoti said premier institutions, including IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), have launched interdisciplinary programmes combining medicine and technology to drive innovation in healthcare.Spine surgeons discussed the latest advances, emerging technologies, and best practices in minimally invasive spine surgery.
