Spice Girls to release previously unheard demos in anniversary box set

The Spice Girls will release previously unheard demos as part of a new box set of their music.The Singles Collection will be made up of two limited-edition 14-disc box sets and will be released on 7” colour vinyl and CD on November 6.It marks the 30th anniversary of their debut album Spice and is the first-ever complete collection of all the group’s singles, including B-sides and previously unreleased recordings.These include smash hits Wannabe, Spice Up Your Life and Goodbye, all in a handbag-inspired box, finished in white holographic gloss and matt black foil.It will also include five new messages from each of the Spice Girls as well as previously unreleased recordings from the Spice Girls archive.This includes Do You Think About Me, one of the group’s earliest demos.The CD edition will feature an exclusive disc featuring four previously unreleased demos.Meanwhile, the 7” edition will feature every single on colour vinyl for the first time, paired with its original lead B-side on 14 individually-coloured records with 14 original sleeves.The vinyl box set (Handout)Both sets will also include five collectible art cards and a 30th anniversary acrylic charm.The band had teased a major announcement on social media and the news may come as a disappointment to fans who were hoping the group would reunite for a tour.A cryptic video was shared on the pop group’s Instagram page which featured a newspaper ad from The Stage, the same trade paper that advertised for an all-female group in 1994 that became the Spice Girls.The paper was placed on the stairs featured in their Wannabe music video in 1996.The award-winning group also produced hits such as Stop, 2 Become 1, Who Do You Think You Are? and Viva Forever, amassing nine UK number one singles and two chart-topping albums.Halliwell-Horner left the band in 1998, citing “differences between us”, and in December 2000 the rest of the group went their separate ways, announcing an indefinite hiatus.Read MoreThey reunited in 2012 for the closing ceremony of the London Summer Olympics and in 2019 for their Spice World tour, but have since been the subject of speculation about a return to the stage.
