We’ll do our best to update you on the situation as soon as we can.” Forfar soon provided an update on the 28-year-old’s condition, confirming he was awake and responsive. Writing on social media, the club said: “Adam is awake and responsive after the aerial clash which has injured his neck/spine. “He is being treated by medics on the pitch as we await an ambulance. This is likely the only update we’ll be able to provide for some time.” The Loons had been leading the tie 1-0 thanks to Gus Mailer’s 18th-minute opener. Jim Weir’s side were eager to bounce back following their opening-day defeat to Aberdeen B in the competition, but player safety rightly took priority. Livingstone came through the youth ranks at Motherwell and enjoyed loan spells with East Fife, Morton and Clyde before sealing a permanent move to Cove Rangers in 2020. He later headed south in 2022, featuring for Stafford Rangers, Hednesford Town, Telford United and Buxton, before returning north to join East Kilbride in 2024.
