Speeding truck drags traffic cops for over 50 metres after hitting bike in Faridabad

A speeding truck hit two Faridabad traffic constables on patrol and dragged them over 50 metres. The truck driver fled after the crash, leaving the vehicle behind, and the incident was captured on CCTV cameras.Police said an FIR has been registered, the truck has been impounded, and efforts are on to trace the driver. The two constables were taken to a hospital after the crash, where doctors declared them dead.The deceased were identified as Naveen, 24, a resident of Bhiwani, and Abhishek, 26, a resident of Tosham. Both were posted with the traffic police and attached to the Parvatiya Colony police chowki. According to police, they were patrolling on a motorcycle along Sohna Road on Wednesday afternoon, with Naveen riding and Abhishek as pillion.Police said CCTV footage showed the truck hitting the side of their motorcycle, after which Naveen lost control and slid underneath the truck. Both policemen fell on the road and the truck ran over them, they said. The two, along with their motorcycle, got stuck under the truck and were dragged for more than 50 metres. Police said their helmets shattered and were flung away before the truck's wheels ran over their heads. "An FIR has been registered against the truck driver at Saran police station. We informed the family of the deceased and their bodies are kept in the mortuary. A further probe is underway," a senior police officer said. Police said the driver escaped after the accident and teams are trying to trace him.The crash took place in the middle of a market, and police said the truck driver did not stop after hitting the motorcycle.
