SPEEDBOAT killer Jack Shepherd has been jailed after he pinned down and beat his new girlfriend with BBQ tongs in a sickening campaign of abuse. The vile 39-year-old attacked the vulnerable woman twice only a year after he was released from prison. The first attack left her with “bruising to her arm and top of the leg” in February 2025 while the tongs inflicted a permanent scar in June that same year. Shepherd was jailed today for 20 months with a further four years on extended licence after he admitted the two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and damaging property. Judge Martin Edmunds previously said he could not add more time to Shepherd’s sentence, which will see him released in January 2029. One resident claimed the woman was “alone and in need of someone to talk to” before they started seeing each other in August 2024. They said that their relationship got off to a good start before it descended into a “nightmare”. “He’s conned her and conned us all. We were all taken in by him…but he’s a danger to all women,” they added. By the end of 2024, Shepherd became violent and coercive towards Ms X, who complained to the police. The woman accused him of “belittling” her with jibes about her weight and age, and accused her of flirting with other men. As part of the controlling or coercive behaviour charge, which was dropped by prosecutors, she also claimed he had mentioned a violent former cellmate and allegedly told her it would be her “last day” if she said anything bad to his probation officer. But the following year, he had almost three months slashed from his sentence. Charlotte Brown’s father Graham branded Shepherd a “risk to women”. He told The Sun: “I’ve always said Shepherd remains a risk to women. This proves it beyond doubt. “He has no respect for women at all.” On the night Charlotte died, Shepherd tried to impress her with a late-night trip past the Houses of Parliament after a £150 dinner at the Shard. They had ordered two bottles of wine and Shepard had been drinking heavily before the tragedy, while English literature graduate Charlotte barely touched a drop on their first date. Harrowing mobile phone footage showed him racing down the Thames at double the speed limit in his faulty speedboat moments before it hit a log and flipped over. Charlotte, who died shortly after hitting the river from cold water immersion, could be heard screaming: “Oh my God, you’re going so fast”. Shockingly, Shepherd fled the UK before he could face justice in person and spent ten months on the run. It was while he was hiding in Georgia that the chilling truth behind the champagne Casanova began to emerge. Police discovered Shepherd had bought the boat from Gumtree to “pull” and had taken ten other women for rides before the fatal crash. Shepherd, who got married and had a child after the crash, eventually handed himself into local authorities in Georgia and even tried protesting his innocence in front of TV cameras. Smirking as he surrendered, he insisted it was a “tragic accident”. Shepherd finally appeared at the Old Bailey in April 2019 after being extradited back to the UK and began his six-year sentence. He was also handed a further four years in prison after he attacked a barman with a vodka bottle in 2018.
