South Suncoast RBs among Florida leaders in rushing yards, TDs

It’s been a renaissance of sorts when looking around the state of Florida high school football and how offenses are looking more and more to lean on their talented running backs. Count a trio of tailbacks from Florida’s South Suncoast region (Charlotte, Manatee, Sarasota counties) for producing some of the state’s top running backs when it comes to yards and touchdowns this season. White has been the steady hand for the Hurricanes’ offense that at times has really needed to lean on their talented running back. The junior tailback has rushed for 955 yards on 117 carries and has found pay dirt 15 times for Manatee. He has also added four catches for 66 yards and a score, bringing his total to 16 touchdowns on the season. Moving over to the numbers that Jackson has put up so far for Cardinal Mooney, which is right on the outside looking in to competing for a spot in the Florida High School Athletic Association’s (FHSAA) first-ever Open Division, the senior has been impressive week to week. Jackson has produced 925 yards on only 69 carries and scored 13 touchdowns. Last but not least is Jones, who announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he’s heading to see the Miami Hurricanes play this Saturday via game invite, has been playing at a high level no matter who the senior back has gone against. Through five games, Jones has scored 15 total touchdowns and rushed for 591 yards on 78 carries. All three running backs are playing at high levels right now in the Sunshine State and it will be interesting to follow along with the trio as they continue to produce into the second half of the regular season.
