Live Feed Home TV TV News The latest run of episodes kicks off with the Donald Trump-baiting rebrand intact — and with a fresh Emmy in tow. September 15, 2026 11:40am South Park Season 29 Courtesy of Comedy Central Logo text The rebranding of the Comedy Central hit series South Park as South America — a gag on President Trump‘s renaming of various locations — was apparently not the one-off joke speculated on last week; it seems the joke will carry on through at least the season 29 premiere, as the logline released by the cable network on Tuesday indicates. The premiere episode continues the Emmy-winning run by embracing political satire and blending it with the lives of Cartman, Kenny, Stan, and Kyle as residents of a Colorado town. “South American Biker Gangs,” set to premiere on Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, will look at a moment “when e-bikes arrive in South America [and] the boys take over the streets, and the parents of South America can hardly recognize South America.” Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced last Tuesday that the show will change its title: “Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” the duo wrote in a press release. “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.” Expect some dark satire of the companies mentioned above throughout the new season. The thanks to “our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation” is clearly a warning shot. South (ahem) America is being freshly celebrated three decades after its debut, winning its fifth Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys. The beloved animated series, which smashed its own ratings records last season, was included in the 2026 Television Academy Honors — its first-ever animated honoree. Meanwhile, the show was the Producers Guild Awards’ first animated show included in best episodic comedy. The hit series and cultural phenomenon also received awards and accolades from the American Film Institute, the Peabody Awards and the Critics’ Choice Association. Season 29 of the Emmy Award-winning series will be available to stream on Paramount+ and on demand with TV providers post-premiere.
