‘South Park’ returns Wednesday as Butters takes on billionaires

Titled “Billionaire Weenietown,” the latest episode puts Butters at odds with the billionaires building data centers in the neighborhood. It’s the second episode of Season 29, which debuted earlier this month under the show’s new South America name.Those without a basic cable setup can watch Wednesday’s premiere of South Park live with Philo or DirecTV Stream. Philo’s Essential plan includes Comedy Central and offers a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, followed by $25 a month. DirecTV Stream offers a 5-day free trial for eligible new subscribers, but be sure to choose a package that includes Comedy Central. Cancel before your trial ends if you don’t want to continue with a paid subscription.If you’re willing to wait until Thursday, Paramount+ is the cheaper paid option, but there is no free trial currently available. The episode will be available on demand the following day, with subscriptions starting at $8.99 a month for Essential. You don’t need the $13.99 Premium plan to watch South Park on demand, and it will not be available to stream live. Instead, Paramount+ only carries new episodes the day after their Comedy Central premiere, so it’s the better option for viewers who want to keep up without paying for a live TV package.What is ‘South Park’ season 29 episode 2 about?“Billionaire Weenietown” centers on Butters’ frustration with data centers being built close to home. The episode brings Cartman, Kenny, Stan and Kyle back for the next installment of the season, with billionaires and their neighborhood construction projects at the center of the story.The new season also comes with a name change. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced the South America title ahead of the Sept. 16 premiere, making the rebranding part of the show’s latest satire. Viewers seeing that name in promotional material are still watching the same long-running Comedy Central series.When does the next ‘South Park’ episode premiere?South Park season 29 is following an every-other-week schedule. After Wednesday’s episode, the next new installment is scheduled for Oct. 14.
