Source Says ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Contestant Was “Scolded” by Pros Over Controversial Comment, While Producers “Welcome the Controversy”

Jackson Olson has been getting backlash behind-the-scenes of Dancing With the Stars for what he said about fellow contestant Guillermo Rodriguez. In case you need a refresher, Jackson commented on the Loco Beach Coconuts’ recreation of Guillermo and Witney’s choreo, writing “but seriously how did you do this better than him with 2 hours of rehearsal.”The vibe on set? A source told The Sun that while Jackson “did not get into any trouble with the show,” the pros definitely “scolded” him.“Producers didn’t scold him or tell him to delete the comment. If anything, they welcome the chatter and welcome the controversy, so long as it doesn’t cross a line,” the insider said. “But it was the other pros, including his own partner Emma, who told him like, ‘Hey man, that’s not a good look.’ They encouraged him to take it down and he did so without hesitation. He felt bad.”The source added that Jackson “said he wasn’t trying to be a jerk and he feels so bad about how it came off. That mixed with all the chatter this week about his performance and people not liking him has really gotten in his head this week. He’s had bad anxiety and has struggled getting through rehearsals and keeping up with the schedule this week. He feels really bad and he’s very nervous to perform this week.”Jackson publicly apologized ahead of Mariah Carey Night, appearing in a video with Guillermo and writing, “To G and to all of you, from the bottom of my heart I am so sorry about my comment I made the other day and that it caused this much negativity. I love this guy ❤️ now let’s do what this show is meant to be about.. DANCE 🕺 ily G.”
