| Games News Writer Published November 6, 2026 5:27pm Updated November 6, 2026 5:27pm A Ratchet job (Sony Interactive Entertainment) A spin-off game for PlayStation’s animated double act will be delisted later this month, before it’s even launched worldwide. You might think the last Ratchet & Clank game was Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on the PlayStation 5, but there’s been another mobile multiplayer game since then. Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, developed by Oh Bibi, was an arena shooter spin-off set within the Ratchet & Clank universe. It was released in specific territories, including the UK and Canada, during a soft launch period, before a planned worldwide launch at some point in the future. However, Sony has now ceased development on the game, with the final update set to roll out today (November 6). As outlined in an announcement post, the title will be removed from the Apple App and Google Play stores on November 21, while those who have downloaded the game before that date will be able to play it until May 1, 2027, when the servers will permanently shut down. ‘On behalf of the dev team and everyone helping to make the game, thanks to our amazing community for all your support, especially to those who have spent time playing, sharing feedback, and helping shape Ranger Rumble throughout its development,’ the post reads. All in-app purchases have been removed from the title, and the game’s Super Pass is now free to everyone. Although the game itself was already free-to-play. In July this year, Sony invited people to pre-register for Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble’s global launch. It’s unclear why Sony decided to bin the game beforehand, but it could be reflective of a steer away from mobile or live service titles at large. Recently, reports suggested Horizon Hunters Gathering, a multiplayer spin-off from the Horizon franchise, is being reworked to remove its live service elements. Sony has other mobile games in development, including Horizon Steel Frontiers from developer NC. That’s slated to be released in the first half of 2027, but news on the game has been quiet of late. The most obvious explanation for Ranger Rumble’s shut down is that it wasn’t attracting enough players, but it might be an act of quality control over the Ratchet & Clank franchise – especially if a new mainline entry at Insomniac Games is underway. According to leaked documents, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart sold four million copies by the end of 2023 and made a profit for Sony, following its launch in June 2021.
