Their input went into a redesigned driver intended to bring out bass and fine detail without distortion.The Sonos Ace Ultra headphones are available at Best Buy for $449 in Black, Soft White and Agave. Adaptive EQ adjusts the sound as the fit changes, accounting for things like movement, glasses or a gap between an ear cushion and your head. Sonos also says the Ace Ultra provides up to twice the active noise cancellation of the original Ace. Ten microphones help the headphones respond to surrounding noise, while Aware mode lets you hear what’s going on when you need to.The battery lasts up to 35 hours with active noise cancellation on, five hours longer than the original Ace. A three-minute charge provides up to three hours of playback if you’re short on time. Soft foam cushions, independently rotating ear cups and an adjustable headband are designed to keep the headphones comfortable through longer listening sessions. Beamforming microphones help separate your voice from background noise during calls.Ace Ultra has a feature that makes particular sense for a Sonos household. Press the Content Key to move audio from a compatible speaker to your headphones, then press it again to send the audio back. You could continue a playlist in private after someone else comes into the room, or return it to the speakers when you’re ready. This headphone-linking feature is in Early Access and requires compatible Sonos equipment, Wi-Fi and setup in the Sonos app.A compatible Sonos soundbar can also send TV audio to the headphones for private listening. Dolby Atmos, TrueCinema and dynamic head tracking add a more immersive effect with supported content and equipment. Away from the TV, the Ace Ultra connects over Bluetooth, USB-C or a 3.5mm cable.The controls are designed to work without constantly reaching for your phone: slide the Content Key to change volume, or press it to pause playback and answer calls. Automatic wear detection pauses the audio when you take the headphones off. Sonos includes a travel case, a USB-C charging cable and a USB-C-to-3.5mm cable.
