After working for an indie game studio and acting as the family's go-to technician for all computer issues, he found his passion for writing and decided to use his skill set to write about all things tech. Since beginning his writing career, he has written for many different publications such as WorldStart, Listverse, and MakeTechEasier. However, after finding his home at MakeUseOf in February 2019, he would eventually move on to its sister site, XDA, to bring the latest and greatest in Windows, Linux, and DIY electronics. The mod needed 3D printing, patience, cash, and custom button casting after paint issues. The finished build looks amazing, resembling an official Microsoft-era design. I think every Xbox gamer has their favorite console in terms of aesthetics. As much as it had a bulky controller and a very 2000s-like vibe, my vote definitely goes for the original Xbox. However, some people fell in love with the Xbox 360, such as this tinkerer who decided to tweak their Steam Deck to make it look more like Microsoft's second console. And while making the modifications wasn't the easiest walk in the park, I think all the effort was well worth it. Someone modded their Steam Deck to look more like an Xbox 360 controller It took some work to look right Over on the Steam Deck Modded subreddit, someone posted a photo of their Xbox 360-themed Steam Deck. They took the original buttons and inputs out of the Steam Deck and replaced them with custom-made kits that look like the official Xbox 360 controller buttons. The end result is something that makes the Steam Deck look like something Microsoft itself made years ago. Creating the mod wasn't all easy, though. As the creator puts it: "Super fun, lots of trial and error if you don’t own a 3d printer but nothing you can overcome with patience and cash lol My only issue is that the Extremerate button kits are all painted white plastic, which ticked me off a lot because their other mods for other consoles have been really high quality. So if the paint rubs off I’ll be very upset and will be casting my own buttons." Still, it seems the work really paid off, as the end product looks amazing. And if this isn't impressive enough for you, you'll definitely love the one time someone squeezed the Steam Deck hardware into a portable Game Boy shell.
