After working for an indie game studio and acting as the family's go-to technician for all computer issues, he found his passion for writing and decided to use his skill set to write about all things tech. Since beginning his writing career, he has written for many different publications such as WorldStart, Listverse, and MakeTechEasier. However, after finding his home at MakeUseOf in February 2019, he would eventually move on to its sister site, XDA, to bring the latest and greatest in Windows, Linux, and DIY electronics. Demos hit high frame rates: a 2D shooter hit 85 FPS, an Outrun-style racer at 65 FPS, and a 3D physics test at 55 FPS. The editor has a scene tree, Inspector, 2D/3D views, gizmos, script editor, signals, AnimationPlayer, and build/flash tools. People have been making some really cool gaming projects for their ESP32s lately, but what if you want to make your own? Well, this one seems to be a fantastic way to do just that. A Redditor has shown off what they've been working on, and it allows people to develop their own titles for the microcontroller with some pretty impressive frame rates. Jet Studio brings a Godot-like experience to ESP32 game dev Its games can hit 60 FPS or more Over on the ESP32 subreddit, user fedyfaustoITA revealed Jet Studio, a Godot-like project that lets you make games for your Arduino Nano ESP32 with an ILI9341 SPI display. You build the game on your PC, and when it starts looking good, you can deploy the same game to your ESP32 to play. The claimed performance looks pretty great, with a 2D shooter hitting around 85 FPS, an Outrun-styled racer clocking in at 65 FPS, and a 3D physics demo at 55 FPS. The editor itself comes with some really nice features: The editor: scene tree, Inspector, 2D and 3D views with Godot's move/rotate/scale gizmos, script editor, Godot-style signals, tweens and an AnimationPlayer with a timeline, nodes for sprites, 2D/3D physics, particles, Timer and HUD labels, a serial monitor, and a RAM estimate before building. Build & Flash use PlatformIO / ESP-IDF. If you'd like to see more examples of Jet Studio in action, or you want to give it a spin for yourself, head over to the GitHub repo for all the details.
