Snake catcher dies of snakebite at Chirayinkeezhu

A professional snake catcher, Sandeep, 33, of Eenchakkal Valia Elayil, near Chirayinkeezhu, died following snakebite at the Government Medical College Hospital here on Thursday morning. He sustained the snakebite at his house from a snake he had captured and brought back.According to information from the Chirayinkeezhu taluk hospital, Sandeep was brought to the hospital around 12.45 a.m. with severe vomiting and neurological symptoms which was indicative of cobra venom. Hospital authorities do not have information on when he might have been bitten by the snake, but from the severity of his symptoms, it appeared that some time had elapsed after he sustained the bite.
