Skins star Megan Prescott reveals she had just £300 before joining OnlyFans… & claims fellow actors envy her ‘freedom’

MEGAN Prescott has revealed how OnlyFans transformed her life after she was left with just £300 in the bank – and says some mainstream actors secretly wish they had the freedom she now enjoys. The former Skins star, who played Katie Fitch (aka Katie f*****g Fitch) on the hit drama alongside her twin sister Kathryn, joined the subscription platform in 2020 after years of struggling to make ends meet while pursuing an acting career. The Sun exclusively revealed in June that Bonnie – known for allegedly sleeping with 1,057 men in 12 hours – was banned from the site following a string of shocking stunts. But Megan – who makes and sells nude content and personalised videos to subscribers for £11 per month – said OnlyFans has become far more than a place to share adult material. When the pandemic hit, Megan, 35, was working at a distillery on a zero-hours contract, having already spent over a decade trying to build a career in acting. With money tight and her manager initially refusing to furlough her, she had just £300 in her bank account and was struggling to pay her rent. In a bid to solve her money woes, a friend suggested she try OnlyFans – pointing out that explicit footage from her Skins days was already circulating online while Megan was receiving none of the monetary benefits. And the financial difference is stark. Megan has previously told that she could make the same amount on OnlyFans in a week as she earned in a month from working odd jobs, and was able to make three times as much from her work in the adult industry as she did during her Skins days. She initially feared that joining the platform could damage her acting career. But looking back, Megan says the platform was a lifeline that gave her something the mainstream industry never had – control. She said: “I’d spent so many years in acting, trying to get things moving and nothing [was] happening. “Going on OnlyFans and realising all this content that I was making for free, people would pay for and people would like to pay for, just changed my entire point of view and it really did improve my creative outputs.” And rather than abandoning acting, Megan says OnlyFans has actually allowed her to continue pursuing it, but this time on her own terms. She explained: “If it wasn’t for OnlyFans, I would not have been able to continue acting and I wouldn’t have been able to pursue writing and making activist content. “I still love doing it, but because I know I have an option to create my own content with stuff I love, I no longer feel beholden to the acting, the mainstream acting industry where I just have to accept any job.” That newfound financial independence has also given Megan something she says she could never have afforded before – the time to actually create her own work. She said: “I wrote and starred in my debut solo theatre show, Really Good Exposure, which is loosely based on my life as a child actor and what I did afterwards. “There is no way I would have ever been able to do that if it wasn’t for having an avenue to make income with OnlyFans.” And she reckons some of her fellow actors may secretly be looking at her career with envy. Asked whether she had ever felt judged by people in the acting world, Megan did not hold back. She said: “I do think I sometimes get that vibe, especially from – I’m going to sound like a d**k – but from mainstream actors, I do sometimes get the feeling that they wish they could have the freedom that I do – to choose what I create and choose what I say on OnlyFans. You get to do so many more interesting things and no one’s telling you what you can and can’t do!’” Indeed, there aren’t many Brad Pitts knocking about – so Megan thinks a growing number of actors will follow in her footsteps. The star added: “I do think we are going to see more and more mainstream actors turning to making their own productions for things like OFTV because it’s just a liberty that you don’t get.” And Megan is now putting that theory into practice with her latest role on Race of Wits – a new competition series streaming on OnlyFans’ platform OFTV. The eight-part show, hosted by OnlyFans creator Emily Black, sees teams of two creators go head-to-head in London-based challenges, solving clues and completing puzzles for a cash prize. Megan teamed up with comedian and fellow creator Freya Mallard and admits she loved being able to show a completely different side of herself. Megan sees Race of Wits as another example of how spaces such as OFTV can give creators opportunities they might struggle to find elsewhere – which has allowed her to turn her attention to issues far beyond and bigger than the adult industry. Her recent campaign – tactfully named ‘Headline Newds’ – saw her creating climate-focused content designed to raise awareness to an audience who might not seek out this programming. She said: “People listen on OnlyFans.
