Sinclair returns to Moree with five-strong team

John SchellSeptember 5, 2026 — 5:00pmFormer Moree trainer Peter Sinclair will return to his old home track on Sunday with a strong team of gallopers set to represent the stable.Sinclair has been based at Murwillumbah for three years and will make the trek to Moree where he has five runners engaged across four races.Racing returns to Moree on Sunday.Daniel O'BrienSinclair will start the day when first starter Savage Sequel, a three-year-old gelding by Barbaric, lines up in the Boland Petroleum Super Maiden Showcase Plate (950m) with gun apprentice Archie McColm taking the ride.Savage Sequel tuned up for his debut with a Gold Coast barrier trial win in March and hasn’t been seen since.“He’s a really nice horse but it remains to be seen if he has the speed to muster from the inside gate,” said Sinclair.Stablemate To’o is also down to start in Savage Sequel’s event, but has gate 17 to contend with. Ashley Butler has been booked to ride To’o.To’o had one start back in April and finished last of seven at Grafton and has since finished fifth in a Murwillumbah trial.McColm will again link with Sinclair when partnering Referees in the Campbells Fuel And McGregor Gourlay Country Boosted Class 1 Showcase Handicap (1200m).Referees has had six starts and won his maiden at Grafton in February.He has also been placed in another three runs and resumed from a spell with a fourth at Murwillumbah at his latest start.McColm will need to be at his best to overcome barrier 14.“He’s a very nice horse and there is a good straight run from the start so he should get his chance,” Sinclair said.Butler links with Sinclair when Shalaa Jet contests the Moree And District Services Club Benchmark 58 Showcase Handicap (1300m).Shalaa Jet has a win and two placings to his name from eight starts and had his first start for Sinclair when running last at Murwillumbah last month.Sinclair rounds out the day when Awaygoesthebunny contests the Agristorage And Logistics Moree Cup (1400m) with Ben Looker in the saddle.“He ran home well at Casino and backed that up with a good run in the Murwillumbah Cup,” said Sinclair.“Voracious looks hard to beat but Awaygoesthebunny should run very well again.”Supplied by Racing NSWFrom our partners
