Simbu's Arasan promo postponed from Diwali, may release in theatres on December 4

The much-awaited promo of director Vetri Maaran's Arasan, starring Silambarasan TR aka Simbu, may have to wait a little longer, with the team reportedly planning to bring it to theatres on December 4. The eight-minute promo was initially expected to release during Diwali. However, pending work on Anirudh Ravichander's background score has reportedly pushed the plans back, a source close to the team told India Today Digital. The promo's dubbing work has been completed by the principal cast, including Silambarasan, Priyanka Mohan, Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani and Kishore. Vetri Maaran has also finished his voice-over, which introduces the story and establishes its connection to the Vada Chennai universe. The only pending component is Anirudh's background score. The team has reportedly been waiting for the composer to complete the work over the past week. With Anirudh's wedding scheduled for this month, the makers are said to be mindful of his other commitments and not to disturb him. There was also a suggestion from producer Kalaipuli S Thanu to use the background score from the earlier promo and proceed with the release. However, Vetri Maaran and Silambarasan are said to have preferred waiting for Anirudh's original score to retain the intended impact of the promo. According to the source, the makers are now considering December 4, coinciding with the release of Train, for the promo's theatrical debut. The plan is reportedly to screen it in over 1,000 theatres, including overseas locations, a significant expansion from the originally discussed 100-plus screens for Diwali. The December 4 date and theatrical rollout are yet to be officially confirmed by the makers.Arasan marks Vetri Maaran's first collaboration with Silambarasan and is set in the world of Vada Chennai. The film also stars Priyanka Mohan, Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani and Kishore in key roles.- Ends
