Silent Hill Unveils New Prequel, And It Looks Like A Total Nightmare

Fans are yet again in the midst of a new Silent Hill game, with Silent Hill: Townfall being released for PC and PlayStation 5 on September 24, 2026. Following a 12-year drought and a handful of installments that were underwhelming at best and abysmal at worst (relative to Team Silent’s exceptional first three games, anyway), the last two years have been miraculous for Konami and the Silent Hill brand, quite frankly. Like Silent Hill f, Screen Burn’s brand-new Silent Hill game doesn’t take place in Silent Hill. However, Silent Hill f made it abundantly clear that a Silent Hill game doesn’t need to be set in Silent Hill to be incredible, and fans that find themselves enamored by Silent Hill: Townfall’s St. Amelia may warmly welcome a prequel story that is releasing as early as tomorrow. Silent Hill: Townfall Is Getting A Tie-In Comic Book This month, Silent Hill: Townfall is being accompanied by a prequel tie-in comic book one-shot from 2000 AD. As per 2000 AD, Silent Hill: Townfall - The Dock House comes from Silent Hill: Townfall lead writer and game director Jon McKellan and expands the upcoming survival-horror game’s lore beyond protagonist Simon Ordell: “The story follows Douglas, a veteran harbour master who has spent decades maintaining St. Amelia’s dock house. Trapped in an endless routine surrounded by fog and isolation, Douglas discovers an impossible staircase descending beneath the harbour, forcing him to confront a terrifying reality hidden beneath the surface of the town.” Whether or not players get to meet this character in-game, Silent Hill: Townfall - The Dock House could be a brilliant accoutrement that helps flesh out the island community a bit more. Depending on how rich St. Amelia’s lore is, it’d be neat to see subsequent games revisit it as the new ‘Silent Hill.’ Silent Hill Is Back And Better Than Ever From what little has been unveiled thus far about Silent Hill: Townfall, it’d have to fall unbelievably flat in order to be as disappointing as the egregious Silent Hill: Ascension project or Silent Hill: The Short Message, an aptly titled two-hour-long experience. That said, Silent Hill: Townfall receiving a prequel tie-in comic and a different protagonist ensures that the game’s worldbuilding has been carefully considered with regard to the dreary, foggy island town of St. Amelia, Scotland. While Silent Hill f was devoted to exploring a vastly novel setting and enhancing the franchise’s combat, Silent Hill: Townfall appears to be a fairly standard Silent Hill game. Rather, it has two defining features: it’s the first Silent Hill game played from a first-person perspective, and players are equipped with a portable television that seems to behave more or less like the motion tracker from Alien: Isolation, only players are capable of discerning whole enemy silhouettes via the CRTV. If Silent Hill: Townfall can once again exceed expectations and reach the same unprecedented standard that the Silent Hill 2 remake and Silent Hill f met, it’ll be an astounding couple of years for the franchise. Plus, with Bloober’s remake of the first Silent Hill game on the horizon, there should be a lot to look forward to in the future. Silent Hill: Townfall - The Dock House is scheduled to be released on September 16, 2026 in the UK, and on September 30, 2026 in the US.
