The Weight is about to be a little lighter Image: Konami / Screen Burn Interactive Sign in to your Polygon.com account Just about a week after Silent Hill: Townfall's release, developer Screen Burn has released a patch that hopes to address some early technical frustrations with the horror game. What's more exciting, however, is the reveal that a fix is in the works for one of the game's most frustrating parts. Breathe easy, because The Weight is finally going to get nerfed. If you've been playing Townfall, The Weight has likely been the bane of your existence. The creature periodically terrorizes protagonist Simon Ordell throughout the foggy town of St. Amelia, but is basically indestructible. That's because [Warning: slight spoilers ahead.] The Weight is Townfall's climactic final boss. The encounter, as it currently exists, is simply miserable. The Weight is a damage sponge, and the intermittent appearance of normal enemies during the fight makes the encounter exhausting. The developer announced Patch 1.3.1 in a post on X. The patch itself improves stuttering issues on PC. Screen Burn also revealed that "We've heard you on struggles with The Weight — gameplay balancing on it's way asap." (Nobody tell them that there's a typo in that sentence, just be grateful a fix is coming.) There is no release date for the update yet, though hopefully it won't be long. What's next for Silent Hill? Image: Screen Burn / Annapurna Interactive / Konami In late 2025, following the successful release of Silent Hill f, Konami revealed that its current plan for the series is to release one title per year. Producer Motoi Okamoto told Famitsu that "we'd like to keep the buzz around Silent Hill constant," even if he admitted that "we're not sure how far we can achieve this." The next project on the schedule is Bloober Team's remake of the first Silent Hill, following the studio's remake of Silent Hill 2 in 2024. While the game currently does not have a release date, it would stand to reason that it will be released next year. Konami's plan partly relies on licensing Silent Hill to outside studios, as with Silent Hill: Townfall. Beyond the Silent Hill remake, there is no official word on what else Konami has in store.
