Sick women, 25 & 26, lured disabled friend into forest & battered her with log on camera in horror ‘revenge attack’

A TWISTED pair of friends beat a disabled woman with a log and spat on her in a “revenge attack” that was filmed to humiliate the victim. Rebecca Cass, 26, and Channye Sweeny 25, orchestrated the ambush in Dagnam Park, near Romford, London, after alleging the victim had texted Sweeny’s ex-boyfriend. The pair, who have both been convicted of assault, ordered three of their pals to film them as they beat and verbally abused the victim. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! They had the intention of inflicting “maximum humiliation” on her, according to prosecutors. Speaking at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, prosecutor Helen Owen said: “This was a premeditated assault, it was planned with the intention of humiliating the lady. She primarily lured her from her house. “She was taken to a wooded and secluded area where the sustained beating took place. “The Crown say it was a revenge attack. The victim is extremely vulnerable and has learning difficulties. “There’s phone footage (of the attack) which is rather disturbing. It shows a sustained beating of her. She was repeatedly hit with a log, spat and kicked. Most read in The Sun “You can hear a commentary on the assault during the video.” The attack took place after Cass texted the victim, who she had known for five years, and invited her out for the day on May 30 last year. When the victim met Cass at the bus stop, she realised she was not alone – and had instead turned up with Sweeny and three others. The group told the victim there had been a change of plan and they were going to Dagnam Park. When they arrived, they led her to a secluded wooded area before ambushing her. The pair grabbed the victim and forced her to the ground, with Sweeny then kicking her and accusing her of texting her ex-boyfriend. Sweeny picked up a log and hit the victim multiple times, aiming for her head and face, before the log finally broke. Despite the victim being curled up in a ball, she continued kicking the defenceless woman. Sweeny then grabbed a stick and hit her on the head with it before snatching her phone, telling her “mine, mine now”. The assault was documented over several video recordings, the Old Bailey heard. Cass, who was under the influence of cannabis at the time, can be seen in one of the clips picking up a log and holding it high above the victim’s head, suggesting she was going to slam it down on her. Sweeny can also be heard demanding the truth from the victim, telling her she has seen the text messages with her former partner. Eventually, the pair allowed the victim to leave the park and a shopkeeper helped the injured woman to call her mum. Sweeny – who was an acquaintance of the victim – had taken her phone but returned it that evening. The victim suffered nerve and muscle tissue damage to her left hand in the attack. She also sustained bruising to the face, head, arms, ribs and back. She received medical treatment at Queen’s Hospital in Romford on May 31. Sentencing of Cass, of Arlington Road, Camden Town, London, and Sweeny, of Grantham Road, Manor Park, London, was due to take place on Tuesday (August 4). However, Judge Judy Khan KC adjourned sentencing until August 14 at Snaresbrook Crown Court to give the prosecution time to get a victim personal statement
