Should You Let Anca Free The Nuns At St. Tyna's In The Blood Of Dawnwalker?

Published Sep 3, 2026, 6:15 AM EDT Although Kaitlyn grew up with a passion for both video games and writing, she never imagined she'd eventually combine them into a career. Now, with several years of experience in the industry across Guides, Features, News, & Reviews, Kaitlyn enjoys nothing more than continuing to deep dive into the games she's passionate about and share her findings with readers. In her downtime, Kaitlyn enjoys unwinding with her favorite horror films, despite being a major scaredy-cat. After you reach St. Tyna's with Anca in The Blood of Dawnwalker and make a safe path for her to the library, you'll discover that Leonica, whom Anca believed to despise magic, fell victim to it. In a moment of desperation, as the covenant fell ill from the plague, Leonica attempted to save the nuns by using Witchcraft to prevent their death. As is usually the case, the hex didn't work as intended and turned the nuns into lifeless zombies that now haunt the grounds of St. Tyna's. When you find Leonica, she will be attempting to perform another ritual beneath the library, which you'll stop by killing her. Only after she's dead will Anca learn that you both misinterpreted the situation. What Happens If You Let Anca Complete The Ritual? As it turns out, despite looking like something straight out of The Nun when you arrived, Leonica still had some semblance of sanity and was actually attempting to reverse the hex she put on everyone to free them before you interrupted her. Now, the ritual is incomplete, and the nuns might be stuck in this state forever. That is, if Anca doesn't finish the ritual herself. Shortly after finishing off Leonica, Anca will search the room and find the ritual notes. Once she realizes what the ritual was for, Anca will tell Coen she wants to complete it herself as penance for all of this being her fault, in her eyes. You will have a quicktime decision to make here, but you can pause if you want a moment to think. You cannot save during the conversation, but you should have an autosave after defeating Leonica if you didn't overwrite it with a manual save. You'll have a moment to decide whether you want to let her go through with it. The different outcomes and options that lead to them are outlined below. Let Anca Complete The Ritual Anca will tell you she needs to complete the ritual. ↓ Choose 'This won't end well.' ↓ Anca will convince you that you don't understand and she needs to do this. ↓ Choose 'There. Take them' and hand the ritual notes back to Anca. (This option will cost you one of your time segments) ↓ Wait for Anca while she completes the ritual, then choose to meet her back at the inn or head straight there with her. If you let Anca complete the ritual, the nuns and the curse over St. Tyna's will be cleared. This means you'll be able to explore St. Tyna's freely without needing the bell. Anca will also view this as a way to free herself from some of her guilt and have some relief over seeing that it worked. At the moment, there are no known direct consequences of this decision for Anca, but proceed with caution. The scene afterward at the inn plays out the same regardless of the decision made here. So, it's entirely up to the player to decide what they feel is best based on their playthrough. It does appear, however, that this is the outcome Anca prefers. Don't Let Anca Complete The Ritual Anca will tell you she needs to complete the ritual. ↓ Choose 'Absolutely fucking not.' ↓ Anca will convince you that you don't understand and she needs to do this. ↓ Choose '[Toss the notes in the fire]' and burn the ritual notes. ↓ Anca will become distraught over what you just did. ↓ Choose either option, and Anca will ask you to gather the books and take them back to the inn, which you can either go to later or head straight there. If you decide not to let Anca complete the ritual, she will be extremely upset that you decided for her. If you attempt to console her, she will cut you short and tell you to gather the books and head back to the inn. Once you get to the inn, the scene plays out the same as if you let her complete the ritual. So it doesn't appear that Anca will hold a permanent grudge over not being allowed to complete the ritual. That said, this decision seems to weigh on Anca and is not the outcome she wants, so if that's important to you, this is probably not the right option. Additionally, since you didn't let Anca clear St. Tyna's, you will have to deal with the undead nuns anytime you decide to go back there.
