And in an unprecedented move, the picturesque town has now symbolically voted to leave the UK as jubilant villagers were seen holding up a ‘Principality of Piddington’ sign in celebration. There is no current legal mechanism allowing a village to declare independence from the UK – but fuming locals insist making their voices heard is the only option. Labour’s scheme has sparked fury across the nation– with huge protests against the takeover of another army site in Crowborough, East Sussex.
