Originally released for PC via Steam back in November 2025, Legend of the North might just be the first and only hockey RPG around. It's got pretty strong reviews, too. Oh, and there's a free demo on Steam if you wanted to check it out now (assuming you have a PC, that is). Fortunately, if you don't, developer Treewood Games and publisher New Metric Media are officially bringing the game to consoles. Legends of the North is built to be a couch classic in the vein of classic arcade sports games like Techmo Bowl, Gretzky ‘64, and NBA Street. There's an original story mode in which players can create their own player and join Shoresy and the Bulldogs on a cross-country run to take down the legendary Hockey Godz. Each Hockey God you face comes with a different rink, specialty, stats, and gear to the ice, meaning you'll have to constantly think about switching up your tactics and making the most of your new skills and gear. Of course, you can also just grab some friends (assuming you have any) and play against one another in local multiplayer modes, putting together a team of familiar faces from the Shoresy universe. A huge dream come true for fans of the show, no doubt. "Whether you’re ripping clappers, laying the body or finding out which one of your buddies has been lying about being good at video games, Legends of the Northis designed to be played together," reads a press release. Mark Montefiore, Founder and CEO, New Metric Media explains: “We've always seen Shoresy as a brand with the potential to live well beyond the television series and build on its passionate fandom. Gaming is a natural extension of that world, particularly given how closely the show is connected to hockey culture. Working with Treewood Games, we've been able to create an original experience that gives fans another way to engage with the characters and humor they love. It's also a great example of how we're building on our original IP and taking our comedy brands into new areas of entertainment." Whether you've watched Shoresy or not, if you're looking for a hockey game to play with friends, you might want to mark October 21 in your calendar.
