SHOPPERS after a cheap, do-the-job iron are in luck – Russell Hobbs’ Supreme Steam model has dropped to under £20 at Amazon. That’s well under the £49.99 RRP, and even a little below the £25 or so you can find it for across other retailers. Price-comparison sites list it at roughly £25-£40 elsewhere, so anything under £20 is genuinely cheap. Delivery is free for Prime members. This is a traditional steam iron with a stainless steel soleplate, 2400W of power and a 300ml water tank that Russell Hobbs says is easy to fill. There’s 40g of continuous steam and a 110g steam shot for stubborn creases, plus a vertical steam function for freshening curtains and hanging garments without taking them down. Reviewers tend to praise the iron’s lightness and how quickly it heats up, with several calling it good value for the price. The most common gripe, though, is the 2m cord, which some buyers find too short if their sockets sit far from the ironing board. A few also mention a flimsy cover over the water inlet and a tank that empties faster than they’d like onto a big pile. None of that is a dealbreaker at this price, but if you regularly iron heavy cotton or work far from a plug, we’d weigh those niggles before buying.
