Shocking moment yob attacks driver & hijacks bus before smashing cars into cars & ploughing down street

THIS is the shocking moment a bus driver is attacked in his cab before the crazed yob hijacks the vehicle and ploughs through a town centre. The terrifying footage obtained by The Sun shows the thug lunging at the driver, yanking his beard and repeatedly smashing the bus’s cash register. The 19-year-old filmed the video as she bravely tried to intervene as the panicking driver was attacked. Bystanders reassured him they were already on the phone to officers as the man appeared to repeatedly try to headbutt him. The yob then lunged into the cab and attempted to yank the driver’s beard. He then appeared to grab the cash register and swung it towards the driver. With his attention on her, the driver then managed to climb through his smashed cab window and ran. Kymberlee told The Sun: “The driver at this point then managed to jump out of the window and run away, we were scared because we didn’t know what this man was capable of. “But I wasn’t going to let an innocent man get beaten up so I stayed to defend the driver and distract the attacker. “It was my natural instinct to do that, in those fight or flight situations it is just one or the other and I wanted to help.” But then things got worse as the attacker then climbed behind the wheel of the bus – and drove it away in scenes that could have been from Grand Theft Auto. A further video taken by Kymberlee shows the crazed hijacker climbing into the cab and edging the single-decker towards a junction in the town centre. But in a bizarre twist, the bus then comes to a standstill for more than a minute as crowds gather to watch the extraordinary spectacle unfold. Around a minute and a half later, with a huge queue of traffic building behind him, the bus finally starts moving. The hijacker then drives through the town as shocked witnesses chase after the vehicle. He allegedly drove along the wrong side of the road, sending terrified motorists and pedestrians scrambling to get out of his way. One eyewitness, Tom Barnett, described the moment the bus came towards him on the wrong side of the High Street. Tom told The Shropshire Star: “He came down at me when I was driving up the high street. “I had to pull into the parking space by the old Charlie’s chip shop. “He clearly wasn’t stopping for anyone, it happened so quickly.” Another resident, Lorraine Rees, said she was concerned for the bus driver. She commented: “Hope the poor driver is OK. He looked so scared.” Cops were called to Court Street in Madeley at around 6.37pm after reports that a man had assaulted the bus driver. The vehicle collided with multiple cars before officers eventually managed to stop it. A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of robbery and dangerous driving and remains in police custody while enquiries continue. The bus driver was treated for minor injuries by paramedics. No one else is believed to have been injured during the incident. Detective Sergeant Taigh Lannie said: “We understand this will have been an alarming incident for those in the area this evening. “I’d like to reassure the community that officers responded quickly and a man has been arrested and remains in police custody.” He added that officers were keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or captured footage. The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident before reopening at around 9.40pm.
