An ambulance raced to the scene, where the victim was treated before being taken to hospital. Despite suffering multiple injuries, the man reportedly remained conscious throughout the ordeal. The tourist, who has not been identified, remains in intensive care in a serious condition. Most read in The Sun A local report in Nizhny Novgorod said: “The man misjudged his trajectory and, instead of landing safely in the water, struck the surface awkwardly before ending up beneath the falling tree. “The tree collapsed from the bank where the swinging rope had been secured, pinning him in the water.” The report added: “The incident has sparked widespread concern among locals, who say the quarry lake is frequently used for this kind of activity despite having no proper safety measures in place.” This comes after a woman in Brazil fell to her death after bungee jump staff forgot to attach the safety rope. Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas fell more than 130ft as staff watched on. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The aspiring teacher did not realise a safety rope had not been attached to her harness before the fall. Seconds after the workers released her to drop into the void, voices can be heard in the background of the video shouting: “the rope, people, the rope”. The workers then allegedly changed their clothes and police said at least two fled the area. But they were arrested soon afterwards at the Ponte do Esqueleto trail after a chopper tracked them down.
