He can be heard telling the Austrian guide: “I should go first, shouldn’t I?” But the guide replies: “No, no, no,” He squeezes past the man’s wife on a narrow ledge, and encourages his group to do the same. The Austrian guide then threatens: “Shut up, or I’ll come up and punch you.” He can be seen charging back up the mountain, barging past the man’s wife again as he does so. The guide grabs the climbers hands and gets in his face, yelling “Behave yourself”. The confrontation took place on August 22 as both groups descended an exposed section of the Mürztalersteig route on Grossglockner. The Polish climber shared the footage online, calling the guide “aggressive and confrontational”. He said overtaking on the mountain was routine, but said this guide had endangered everyone around him. He wrote that a professional guide should show “basic courtesy, good judgement and, above all, responsibility”, adding: “The mountains are for everyone, regardless of their experience, skills or pace. “Mutual respect and consideration should always come first.” Police launched an investigation into allegations of endangering public safety, local papers reported.
