Airport firefighters immediately rushed to the scene to secure and inspect the twinjet for structural damage or fuel leaks. Emergency personnel assessed the driver, who remained inside his vehicle until the first responders came. Fortunately no one was injured in the smash. The event resulted in a temporary 30 minute interruption to air traffic at Milano-Linate Airport. ITA Airways from Rome and KLM were diverted to Bergamo and Milan-Malpensa respectively, Geo News reports. One additional private jet went through a holding pattern and landed eventually. It remains unclear how the ground service vehicle lost control. Early reports indicate the driver may have been distracted or have undergone a possible medical event. Neither theories have been confirmed by officials. Normal operations resumed at the airport soon after the incident occurred.
