Sheridan, of London, received a 30-week jail sentence suspended for two years. In addition to the suspended prison sentence, Sheridan was ordered to complete up to 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days under the supervision of the Probation Service. He was also ordered to pay £1,000 costs and a victim surcharge of £187. Councillor Jeremy Hilton said: “This case highlights the vital role residents can play in tackling environmental crime. ”Information provided by members of the public, alongside council CCTV footage and investigative work, was instrumental in securing these convictions. “Fly-tipping is a serious offence that has a direct impact on our communities. ”It harms the environment, undermines pride in our neighbourhoods and costs taxpayers thousands of pounds each year to clear up. “We will not hesitate to take enforcement action against anyone who chooses to dispose of waste illegally. “This prosecution sends a clear message that fly-tipping will not be tolerated in Gloucester.”
