Ordering a medium coffee from Costa will now cost you around £4.40 a pop – up 80 per cent since 2021, when they were around £2.20. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Meanwhile, the price of a Terry’s Chocolate Orange has more than DOUBLED in half a decade. The much-loved chocolate has jumped from £1.24 in 2021 to £2.50 today. Buying one a week would set you back £130 nowadays – over £65 more than five years ago. The chocolate orange has also shrunk in size from 157g to 145g in recent years. A 360g bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk has soared from around £3 to £5 – up 67 per cent. And a margherita pizza from Pizza Express was found to have jumped 65 per cent – from £9.95 to £16.45. How much Brits' favourite treats have gone up in price by since 2021 This is how much some of Brits' favourite treats have gone up in price in five years, according to Checkmyfile's research: Terry’s Chocolate Orange – up 101.6% (£1.24 to £2.50) Medium Costa Coffee – up 79.6% (£2.45 to £4.40) Cadbury Dairy Milk (360g) – up 66.7% (£3.00 to £5.00) PizzaExpress Margherita – up 65.3% (£9.95 to £16.45) Fish and chips – up 61.2% (£6.93 to £11.17) Greggs’ sausage roll – up 45% (£1 to £1.45) Natalie Vos, of credit reporting agency Checkmyfile, which carried out the research, said: “When inflation is discussed, the focus is usually on mortgages, energy bills or the weekly supermarket shop. “But it’s often the everyday treats that people feel most because they’re the purchases we make without really thinking about them. “Whether it’s grabbing a coffee before work, picking up a Greggs sausage roll, or treating the family to fish and chips on a Friday night, these small purchases quickly add up.” Checkmyfile’s Treatflation Calculator, which analysed the price of 25 iconic British treats between 2021 and 2026, found that a basket of everyday favourites that cost £100 five years would cost £145.80 today.
