‘She’ll land one very soon’ – Templegate’s super SIX winners-in-waiting who all caught the eye at Goodwood

TEMPLEGATE picks out a super SIX eyecatchers he thinks are more than capable of doing the business next time out. All of them ran at Goodwood, meaning the form on show should stack up. Goodwood is a notoriously tricky place to find winners and plenty of placed horses look like they can go in next time out – or in the near future at least Credit: PA LEXINGTON BLITZ (Goodwood, Tuesday) ROBERT Cowell’s four-year-old is having an excellent campaign and did well to finish sixth in this hot handicap after missing the kick. He then stumbled early on and was blocked a couple of times when making his run. Then came a switch before he picked up nicely. A fairer track will see him back in front soon before his mark hits three figures and Pattern races await. NANINO NIYATI (Goodwood, Tuesday) THE notorious Goodwood camber cost Owen Burrows’ filly who ran around a bit before hitting top speed. Once all four legs were in tandem, she zoomed home to be denied just a nose. Most read in Horse Racing The was as hot a fillies’ handicap as you’ll see and her winning turn won’t be long in coming. HATTEEN (Goodwood, Wednesday) ENOUGH has been said of Oisin Murphy’s meek performance in the stewards’ room after Andrew Balding’s three-year-old was leant on right up the final furlong. That stopped Murphy properly pushing Hatteen out and this should be counted as a win. Tierra Del Toro finished strongly too after being outpaced and can prosper over staying distances. HARMONICS (Goodwood, Thursday) JOHN Gosden’s three-year-old got more doors slammed in his face than a double-glazing salesman over 1m2f trip. Shane Foley wasn’t able to settle him properly and he was still tanking into final quarter-mile when the traffic problems started. He was switched and then snatched up a couple of times and still finished fifth. Keep an eye out for him in handicaps around this trip as he’s on a good mark. VALIANCY (Goodwood, Friday) JAMES Doyle quite possibly knew he was on a doubtful stayer for William Haggas in the 2m4f marathon but he would have had to be the second coming of Dancing Brave and Shergar to win after being asked to come from somewhere near Gatwick Airport to win. A drop in trip will help his chances greatly. MITBAAHY (Goodwood, Saturday) THIS was an impressive effort to ‘win’ on his side of the track in the Stewards’ Cup but he had to settle for third overall. He had plenty of ground to make up in the final couple of furlongs too and being a bit closer would have helped. He still has a big win in him at the age of seven.
