Sharon Osbourne’s first year without Ozzy has been an ‘emotional nuclear bomb’ as she reveals latest on his biopic

EMOTIONAL Sharon Osbourne has revealed the last year without her husband Ozzy has been like an ’emotional nuclear bomb ‘, but she is buoyed by support from fans. Today marks the first anniversary of Ozzy Osbourne’s death, and his heartbroken widow is overseeing an eagerly anticipated new biopic about their enduring love story. But Sharon is struggling to work with studio bosses, a writing team, and their kids, Aimee and Jack, on the emotionally charged project. Sign up for the Fabulous newsletter Thank you! The 73-year-old TV star wants key scenes about her enduring romance with Ozzy to be given over half an hour each. That would mean that, along with the dramas between the couple during their four-decade-long relationship, the film could run for six hours if Sharon continues to be allowed free rein over editing. The problem is that Sony execs expect the biopic, which is likely to hit cinemas in 2028, to be no longer than 150 minutes. Sharon has an incredible amount of moving, disturbing and hilarious stories about her late hellraiser husband, having written four autobiographies about their extraordinary life together. But Sharon admits reducing those memories into short moments for the big screen is proving to be a tough challenge. She said: “We are in a scene for forty minutes, and I am told it can’t be longer, and this, that, and the other. But it is very hard in film to try and get everything that you want in.” Sharon is hoping to get her way on some pivotal scenes: “You just have to keep going through that door. You don’t take no for an answer.” Before Ozzy’s death, the couple mapped out an early draft of the script, which was described as a “heart-warming tale of navigating true love” – covering the wild times of their years as a close-knit family unit. But Sharon is trimming that down now, and son Jack, 40, has said that they plan to start filming next year, with a hope to have the film released in 2028. There has been no official word on casting yet, although Jack has mentioned that the family does have someone in mind who they want to play Ozzy – but that’s still being kept a closely guarded secret. There is a rumour that Yungblud may be in the mix because of their friendship, although he has no acting experience. Sharon is also keeping busy with ongoing talks for an ABBA-style hologram show of Ozzy’s final concert. And, speaking at the recent launch of Lisa Vanderpump‘s new Las Vegas hotel, she told how she was also buoyed by the reaction from the music world and fan community to plans to resurrect Ozzfest. An LA-based friend of the family also told us how the last 12 months without Ozzy have hit Sharon and 41-year-old daughter Kelly like a “nuclear bomb going off in their lives – emotionally”. The source said: “There is no other way of describing Ozzy’s passing other than total devastation within the family. Ozzy was simply the centre of their universe. “Sharon’s world was built around his life and being with him daily. And sure, he was unwell, but that never stopped the humour, happiness, and daily moments of Ozzy’s unusual but charming ways. “His presence and spirit are a huge void to fill. I think the word that best sums that up is silence – because Ozzy would always be speaking, making noises, or shouting about stuff. “Sharon misses all of that so much. “She has spent so much time in LA with Jack and his daughters and Kelly and her son Sidney to try and take the loneliness away. “They have all been there hugely for one another. Kelly and her dad were close but, with the birth of Sidney, their dynamic intensified. “Ozzy was totally smitten with Sid – because it was his first grandson and he knew how much Kelly wanted to have a child. “Kelly would always describe Oz as ‘my best friend’. He was always the one to support her and have her back in troubled times. “With him no longer being there and Sid missing his granddad, the last year has been brutal on Kelly.” Comment now
