SEVERAL people have been injured after Iran launched a volley of fresh strikes on Kuwait – blasting an oil facility and water plant. Another strike at a desalination plant sparked a fire forcing several power generation units offline. It was the second attack against a desalination plant in two days in the tiny desert nation, which depends on the sites for 90 percent of its drinking water. Several firefighters and a worker were injured while battling two other blazes sparked by Iranian strikes, according to the Kuwait Fire Force. The Middle East has endured days of relentless back-and-forth strikes, with the brutal conflict now centred on who controls the Strait of Hormuz. An interim agreement to end the war has been left in tatters since July 7, when Iran struck ships in the key waterway and the US responded with air strikes.
