Several dead after tourist coach carrying 48 passengers crashes and overturns in Switzerland

NewsWorld News SEVERAL people have been killed after a tourist coach carrying 48 people crashed and flipped over on a mountain road in Switzerland. Helicopters and paramedics raced to the scene of the fatal accident in the scenic Engadine valley of the Alps as they desperately pulled survivors from the wreckage. Dramatic photos show at least eight ambulances and police cars swarming around the site as clusters of firefighters and medics attend to the wounded. The exact number of victims has not yet been released. The tragedy unfolded after the coach careened off the side of a road between the villages of Susch and Zernez before overturning. Local police have not yet confirmed the nationalities of the victims. The coach reportedly belonged to Dutch touring company OAD. Reports by a conglomerate of Dutch tourism associations (ANVR) suggest that Dutch tourists are among the victims but this has not been confirmed by police. Zernez – near where the tour bus crashed – is the entry point to the Swiss National Park, a rugged nature reserve spanning 40 sq miles. Earlier this year, Switzerland’s Fribourg canton was rocked by a disturbing attack in which a man doused himself in petrol and set a bus on fire.
