Safeguard motorhome insurance specialist, Mark Sheppard, has warned that “overnight parking and sleeping in your vehicle on the street may be subject to additional restrictions depending on the area”. Different locations operate with different rules, and drivers can face fines from £50 to £100 if they are caught breaking them. Seven UK tourist hotspots with parking restrictions for campervan and motorhome owners: Snowdonia, Gwynedd county and Conwy county, Wales Falls of Falloch, Stirling County, Scotland Scarborough, North Yorkshire St Annes-on-Sea, Lancashire Saltburn, North Yorkshire Felixstowe, Suffolk Southend-on-Sea, Essex Welsh National Park, Snowdonia recently rolled out an overnight parking ban at 11 of its car parks while popular tourist spot, Falls of Falloch introduced a new parking ban on vehicles over six metres this year. In Scarborough, an overnight parking ban has been in place since 2024 at both the North Bay and the south of Sandsend village between 11pm and 7am while in St Annes-on-Sea restrictions are placed on vehicles between 6pm to 8am daily. Parking restrictions were introduced in Saltburn this month with motorhomes only allowed to park in marked bays on the north side of the Marine Parade for four hours between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Saturday. Another change introduced this month, there is now a parking ban in Felixstowe preventing larger vehicles accessing popular seafronts while Southend-on-Sea has an existing blanket overnight ban for parking on the seafront.
