Series of stolen vehicles, attempted thefts reported in Portage County targeting Kia and Hyundai models

The Portage County Sheriff's Office says a juvenile suspect was interviewed and "admitted to involvement in the vehicle thefts and the attempted thefts." KENT, Ohio — The Portage County Sheriff is investigating a series of stolen vehicles and attempted vehicle thefts that targeted Kia and Hyundai models, with the incidents happening between April 17 to May 14. During this time, a total of seven vehicles were stolen with three attempts in the Kent and Ravenna areas. “A juvenile suspect was identified and subsequently interviewed,” according to a press release that was posted on Facebook by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office. “The suspect admitted to involvement in the vehicle thefts and the attempted thefts.” Anybody with information related to these vehicle thefts is asked to call the Portage County Sheriff’s Office at -330-296-5100 (option 9). “The Portage County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents to take precautionary measures to protect their vehicles, including locking doors, removing keys and key fobs from inside vehicles, and utilizing anti-theft devices when available,” according to the department’s Facebook post.
