SERIE A footballer Yael Trepy has been airlifted to hospital and put in intensive care after nearly drowning in a swimming pool. The incident happened at a mansion in Sardinia, where Cagliari star Trepy, 20, was enjoying some downtime after a Coppa Italia win over Arezzo. Trepy was born in France but moved to Italy in 2022 Credit: Getty The club have updated fans with the following statement: “Yael Trepy is currently hospitalised at the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari, where he is in intensive care. “The Club is in constant contact with the healthcare facility and the player’s family and is closely monitoring the progress of his condition. “At this time, Cagliari Calcio’s thoughts are with Yael and his family. “The Club also requests the utmost respect for their privacy and will provide any updates when available.” Trepy was born in France and learned his trade in the academy of Parisian club US Creteil-Lusitanos. Cagliari snapped him up in 2022, and he scored against AC Milan‘s starlets to help them win the equivalent of the FA Youth Cup in 2025.
