Sephiroth Will Return In Brand-New Adventure After FF7 Revelation

Even though Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is set to be the conclusion of the FF7 Remake trilogy, it’s been confirmed that Sephiroth will return for a brand-new adventure after the game’s release in 2027. The upcoming title was revealed earlier this year, during Summer Game Fest 2026, but at the time, it was unknown exactly when it would arrive. However, during the recent State of Play event in September, the release date for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation was announced, confirming that it will be made available on April 8, 2027. Although this will be the epic conclusion of the story reinitiated back in 2020, it is far from being the end of the FF7 universe. Following the release date announcement during State of Play, the game’s page on Steam was updated, highlighting that it will have a couple of post-launch DLCs, one of which will be focused on Sephiroth, the iconic katana-wielding antagonist from the campaign. This means that we’ll get an extra glimpse into the meteor-invoking villain after we’ve concluded the game’s main story. As seen on the product page on Steam, Square Enix is planning to release a Story Expansion Pass, which will feature two DLCs, plus an item set for the game. The set will contain a few minor items, like the Reclaimant Choker, which is an accessory that restores HP when enemies are defeated. However, one of the most notable aspects of the story expansion in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is the name of the first story DLC, which is simply Sephiroth. It’s unclear exactly what the DLC will portray. There’s a chance we’ll get another glimpse of Sephiroth before the events that turned him into a villain, or perhaps his perspective on the story’s events as the party led by Cloud chases him down. For now, there are no precise details about what the story will showcase, nor whether Sephiroth is even controllable. Given how he is portrayed in the remake series, there is a chance we get another type of confrontation with him. We’ll have to wait to learn more about what Sephiroth will have to offer. The second story DLC is called Vincent & the Turks, and as you’d imagine, it will be focused on the iconic secret character from the original FF7, now an important character played by Matt Mercer, and Shinra’s black-ops group. Both Story DLC 1 and Story DLC 2 are planned to be released between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028. The Steam page lists both as arriving in April 2028. Considering that Sephiroth is the first DLC for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, there is a chance that it will arrive in late 2027. For now, Square Enix will be focused on promoting the base game, so we shouldn’t hear too much about either of the DLCs so soon. However, once the title does come out in April, we can hope to learn more about the expansions planned for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation and what they could bring to the table.
