A SUSPECTED bomb-fitted drone has crashed at a German airport near a Ukrainian plane, sparking a major security alert. The unmanned vehicle was found as a DHL cargo plane struck a mystery object while climbing away from Leipzig/Halle airport overnight. The airport’s southern runway, a major hub for DHL and Antonov, remained closed while bomb experts examined the device. X-ray imagine showed the drone was attached to a defective detonator. The explosive may have been one that can be made easily from fertiliser and gasoline, according to Bild. While air traffic was being diverted, one cargo plane had to abort its landing. It then hit an unknown object before later landing in Hanover, where minor damage to the nose section was discovered.
