Secret reason ‘sophisticated’ Karoline Leavitt wore plain dress on last day – & her hidden nod to post-White House plans

THERE’S a reason Karoline Leavitt ditched flashy red dresses for a more simple look on her final day as White House Press secretary, a fashion expert has said. The sophisticated mom-of-two proudly gave a nod to her future life outside of the public eye as she said a final goodbye to reporters. Fashion guru Dawn Del Russo, who has 15 years working in the industry, first said she was a bit shocked to see such demure style on a momentous day. Sign up for the Fabulous newsletter Thank you! But she later speculated Leavitt may have been wanting to blend in a bit more instead of drawing unwanted glances. “I was surprised to see a darker navy blue for her final day,” she exclusively told The U.S. Sun. “It’s a little bit more conservative. She’s trying to not draw too much attention.” Del Russo said Leavitt generally gravitates towards solid, bold colors, like the red dress with gold detailing she wore to accompany President Donald Trump at Joint Base Andrews last week. While Leavitt’s navy dress has the clean lines she normally opts for, the darker color creates a more understated effect, according to the expert. “I think that’s the look that she wanted to go for for this,” Del Russo sad. Earlier this month, the youngest press secretary in history announced she would be stepping down from her post to spend more time with her kids, son Niko and daughter Viviana, whom she just welcomed in May. “I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary,” she said after returning from maternity leave. One look at Leavitt’s wrist on Thursday proved she couldn’t wait to embrace motherhood full time. On one arm, she had a beaded friendship-style bracelet with “Mama” spelled out in decorative letters. Speaking of the jewelry, Del Russo said, “I think that was a nod to why she’s possibly leaving. “She’s spoken a lot about how she has two children under two and she wants to spend more time at home. “Wearing that bracelet really says that.” Del Russo said Leavitt opts for solid-color looks while on the podium Credit: Getty Leavitt made history as the youngest-ever press secretary Credit: Getty While the “Mama” bracelet stole the show, Del Russo said Leavitt’s other gold bracelets and layered necklaces also spoke to her hectic life as a working mom. “A lot of women tend to have on multiple bracelets,” she said. “They have their watch on, they leave them on, they don’t take them off. “I think that speaks to being a mom in some ways, and keeping the jewelry on and wearing it without worrying about removing so many pieces. “And having the ones that your staple pieces that you go to time and time again.” Speaking with Fox & Friends Thursday morning, Leavitt laughed after seeing a montage of some of her greatest moments and described them as “great memories.” “I’ll just tell you I am so grateful to the president for believing in me and giving me the chance to do it,” she said. “So many people told him when he was considering me for this job, of course after I worked for him under his historic 2024 campaign, that I was too young. “And he ignored all the doubters and he gave me a chance.” Leavitt confirmed Thursday that Trump still hasn’t selected her replacement. Along with spending time with her kids, Leavitt will join MAGA Inc., the president’s super PAC. Comment now
