Holly confided to her pal: “I got busted because I got really p***** and sat outside a bar round the King’s Road way. ‘I got really p***** and completely forgot the run of myself and I was sat outside and there’s this photo of me with champagne in a bucket, talking to my friend, this blonde hair, red lips and I’m like Patsy from Ab Fab.” She was also seen enjoying a cigarette back in her twenties while at V Festival back in 2009. It surprised fans who knew and loved the presenter’s clean-living public image which helped her secure her role on This Morning for many years up until her departure in 2023. But Holly is not the only squeaky clean star hiding a dirty habit. There are plenty of big name celebrities who share the same vice – whether its taking a sneaky drag on a fag or a puff on a vape there is a long list of household names who have been caught in the act. Stars including Harry Styles, Sabrina Carpenter and Jennifer Aniston have been spotted with cigarettes in the past. From Hollywood A-listers to Strictly stars and pop singers, here are just some of the famous faces with a guilty secret. Dua Lipa Dua and Callum are both smokers Credit: BackGrid Dua has been spotted having a drag many times The singing superstar has smoked for years although she vowed to quit in 2022 as she prepared for her gruelling future nostalgia tour. Both Dua, 30 and her hunky new husband, actor Callum Turner, 36, are smokers, and gave cigarettes to guests at their glitzy wedding in Sicily recently. The singer also caused a stir when she was spotted with a cigarette in her hand in front of a No Smoking sign, which appeared to be from a shoot for her song with Blackpink’s Jennie, Handlebars. She was also spotted taking a drag during including a break from filming a commercial with her father Dukagjin Lipa in Warsaw, Poland, this April. The star rose to fame thanks to series five of Love Island back in 2019, where she was said to be one of the Islanders popping to the smoking area off-camera for a cigarette. Maura, who is fast becoming a TV star Stateside thanks to appearances on the US Traitors and Dancing With The Stars, told how she quit smoking in 2021 in an in-depth interview about her health. But in October 2024, she was pictured canoodling former Towie star Pete Wicks, and later laughed: “The funniest part was I had a vape in one hand and a cigarette in the other, living my best life.” Rachel Stevens Rachel Stevens has quit smoking and relapsed in the past Credit: TillenDove The squeaky clean S Club 7 star began smoking when she was in her teens, and earlier this year, she was pictured sitting on a stoop with a pal, cigarette in hand. Rachel, 48, once said: “I started smoking aged 17, but now it’s only in social situations. “I never smoke at home, and I go cold turkey every year for three months, but once you get started again…” The mum-of-two is one of five million people in the UK who smoke, with her sunshine smoking snaps proving she hasn’t yet fully succeeded in kicking the habit for good. Sophie Turner Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner Credit: BackGrid Sharing a behind-the-scenes photo from the Game of Thrones set in 2019 as the iconic series drew to a close, actress Sophie was seen drawing on a vape. The same month, the 30-year-old star was answering fan questions in a live video on Instagram when she realised there was a vape sitting on her lap and went on to throw it out of shot before bursting into laughter. Sophie has been seen smoking cigarettes in her downtime too, telling a hilarious story about trying to chat up late Friends star Matthew Perry when he was rehearsing a play near her home in London a decade ago. “I bought a lighter from Budgens so that I could walk up to him and offer to light his cigarette,” said the mum-of-two. “And it was already lit, so that was just embarrassing.” Katie Price Katie vaping in 2023 Credit: Katie Price/Instagram Back in 2018, Katie attempted to run the London Marathon for the British Lung Foundation on behalf of her mother Amy, who had recently been diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Pulling out at the halfway point due to a dodgy knee, the star went on to raise an eyebrow when she was pictured smoking in a Kent pub less than 48 hours later. The former glamour model next turned to vapes before vowing to quit in 2024, saying: “I have decided today is the day I am throwing this chemical battery, addictive, horrible thing away.” Just a few months later, The Pricey was pictured vaping on a train, and in her recent TV documentary was spotted clutching a yellow vape. Turning to vapes after his doctor warned him smoking cigarettes put him at serious risk of cancer, the star famously shared a picture on Instagram of him vaping with Leonardo DiCaprio ahead of the 2016 Academy Awards. Tom has been open about battling alcohol and crack cocaine addictions in the past and, in a revealing interview with Esquire magazine last year about his health, admitted: “I’m vaping like a chimney.” When asked to describe the setting of the interview with the magazine journalist, the dad-of-three quipped: “Two vapes, somebody else’s clothes, and a hotel room that neither of us feels comfortable in”. Anya Taylor-Joy Anya Taylor-Joy in LA in 2023 Credit: BackGrid Anya, 30, has frequently been pictured with a cigarette in hand over the years, whether in a park, on a balcony or sitting on a pavement kerb with a coffee. The actress once told how she relied on cigarettes, Diet Coke and coffee to cope with her hectic filming schedule of projects including The Queen’s Gambit, the 2021 coming of age period drama mini series about a chess prodigy. But in March this year, Anya told Dazed during Paris Fashion Week: “I just quit smoking. I’m a little less addicted right now.” Leonardo DiCaprio Leonardo DiCaprio is rarely far from his vape Credit: Getty Leo, 51, is perhaps the most famous celebrity vaper of all, after making the transition from smoking cigarettes to e-cigs like so many other stars. The actor famously vaped inside the 2016 SAG Awards, earning himself a telling off from the American Lung Association and leading to an article in Vogue which asked if it’s socially acceptable to vape in public. The star was seemingly unperturbed by the furore: when he was nominated for a best actor Oscar for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood four years later, the £130,000 gift bags for nominees contained a 24-carat, gold-plated vape pen designed to celebrate his ongoing love for the habit. Abbey Clancy Abbey was seen smoking in between takes while shooting an advert in 2023 Credit: Click News and Media Also among the celebrity puffers is Abbey Clancy who has been spotted smoking in public more than once. In July 2010, the 40-year-old model was seen rocking a teeny string bikini as she puffed on a cigarette in Sardinia, Italy. Two years later in 2012, Abbey was seen again smoking a cigarette, but this time in the UK. And it looked like the mum-of-four hadn’t ditched the habit more than a decade on either – as last year Abbey was snapped with an e-cigarette in Palma De Mallorca, the Daily Mail reported at the time. Lily Allen Lily Allen has been a smoker for years Credit: Rotello Lily, 41, was often snapped with a cigarette in her early days but has also switched to a vape in recent years and was spotted at the Cheltenham Racecourse in 2019 puffing away on a fruit flavoured one. But Lily got in trouble when she was the face of vaping brand Vype and promoted it on Instagram. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received complaints about seven Vype posts in 2019, three of which featured captioned pictures of Lily which were ultimately taken down. Despite several attempts at going smoke-free, it seems that the singer hasn’t been successful just yet – as she was photographed puffing on a cigarette last year following the explosive release of her new revenge album West End Girl. She even vapes on stage as part of the act for her tour by the same name. She told The Times: “If I didn’t vape, I’d be smoking cigarettes, and that would be disgusting. Actually, I was vaping and smoking cigarettes at the time, so it was a Parliament Light in one hand, a vape in the other, and lots of crying, lots of storytelling.”
