Second wildfire breaks out in UK as eight fire engines and crews battle huge field blaze

A SECOND wildfire has broken out in the UK as firefighters battled a raging blaze. Around 60 firefighters and eight fire engines scrambled to the scene to tackle the large grass fire in Hornchurch, East London. The Brigade’s Control Officers took the first of seven calls reporting the fire at 1.18pm and mobilised crews from Dagenham, Hornchurch, Wennington and surrounding fire stations. It carries around 475 litres of water, as well as a backpack blower, ear defenders, beaters and misting lance technology, enabling firefighters to tackle grass fires more quickly and safely. LFB added that the cause of the fire is not known at this time. It comes after a raging wildfire broke out in Suffolk, sparking chaos as holidaymakers fled for their lives.
