Search on for youth missing after boat capsizes in Chaliyar river in Kerala

A coordinated search operation by a specialised scuba diving team on Wednesday recovered the body of a 23-year-old who went missing after a country boat capsized in the Chaliyar river near Mavoor around 12.30 a.m. the same day. The deceased was identified as Basil, a resident of Mavoor, the police said.According to police sources, the incident occurred near Poolakkode when a three-member group was engaged in fishing. The small country-made boat lost balance and overturned at a dangerous stretch of the river. While two others managed to swim to safety on the riverbank, Basil was found missing.Although local residents initiated immediate rescue efforts after the accident, their attempts to trace the missing youth proved futile due to poor visibility and deep waters.
