Sealed arrest records lawsuit ends in settlement

SAN FRANCISCO — The First Amendment Coalition, its advocacy director and law professor Eugene Volokh settled with San Francisco’s city attorney and California’s attorney general after the former group sued over a law that prevents anyone, including journalists and lawyers, “from disseminating any information ‘relating to’ a sealed arrest record.” The government agreed not to enforce the law relating to the incident report and sealed arrest reports they sued over, and the advocates will pay a com...
