The SDL3 library commonly used for games and applications for cross-platform hardware and software abstractions now has upstream support for Huawei's HarmonyOS and OpenHarmony. Famous Linux game porter Ryan "Icculus" Gordon was sponsored by the Outfit7 game studio to bring the SDL3 library to HarmonyOS/OpenHarmony. HarmonyOS is the proprietary, distributed operating system developed by Huawei for use on smartphones, tablets, PCs, smart devices, and more. HarmonyOS features a micro-kernel design. OpenHarmony is the open-source distributed OS that in simple terms is an offshoot of HarmonyOS. This SDL3 port to HarmonyOS/OpenHarmony is already in use by some commercial games, according to Icculus. It's been tested on real hardware and as of today is merged to upstream SDL Git.
